Beginning Ultima Online… again

October 4, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

So here I am, yet again, starting up Ultima Online (aka UO). I’ve actually played the game multiple times before, with the first time I played it being the time I played it the longest.

Ultima Online is a game where you have tons upon tons of options open to you. It is also pretty much the first graphical MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game to the uneducated, yes I know it’s a mouthful). Currently I have a character that is merely a humble fisherman, and aspiring miner and blacksmith. I plan to make another character once I’ve gotten some funds from selling fish and doing blacksmith work that will probably be some kind of animal taming swordsman, maybe. I really haven’t put a whole ton of thought into it yet, and am planning on just kind of going with the flow :)

Finally, I’d like to leave you with a picture of my character doing a little fishing, and with an apology for being absent from writing any posts for so long. I’ve been fairly busy with school and other things, and my blog kind of fell to the wayside.

I’ll be sure to keep a blog on how things are going in UO, what I’m up to, and things like that. Oh, and if anyone is interested in playing UO, possibly with me (you know you want to :P ), check out Defiance UO.

Bleach Chapter 325

If you came here only looking for a download, I do not, and will not, provide links to downloads, nor sites that allow you to download manga, so just leave now.

WARNING: This is a review of the entire chapter, so there will obviously be spoilers. Please do not read any farther than this if you don’t wish to see spoilers.

On anime itself

September 6, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

What, exactly, is anime? How would you define something like that? Is it merely an art style? These, among others, are some very excellent questions that were (fairly) recently asked by a blogger at THAT Anime Blog. He goes on to not only ask many very excellent questions, but provide answers to them as well, and even gives an example. If you are a fan of anime, this is a very excellent read, and I urge you to go read it.

What is anime?

RIP Mythos/Hellgate

September 4, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

This is kind of VERY late in being posted but… I figured I might as well add my little contribution. The makers of Hellgate: London and the free game Mythos (was in closed beta) had financial issues, and unfortunately had to shut down their company. Mythos was taken completely offline, and the Hellgate servers were kept up, but all subscriptions have been frozen. If you had a subscription, you don’t have to pay anymore and you get to keep your access to subscription content. You can’t un-subscribe, you can’t subscribe.

There has been quite a number of things flying around the internet about various things like a company acquiring the rights to both IPs, and such like that. Bill Roper, the head guy, has finally spoken out in an interview and has cleared up all the confusion, as well as adding some new info, and a lot of other things. It’s fairly lengthy at 8 pages, but definitely worth the read, especially if you were a fan of either game.

Gurren Lagann post in the works

September 3, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

I’m currently in the process of writing up a (probably) huge post about the entire series of Gurren Lagann, summarizing it best I can, and writing my thoughts and such. Hopefully I’ll have it done before not too long, so look forward to it!

I’m posting this because I’m heading to sleep, and won’t have it done today, maybe not even tomorrow, it really depends on when I get around to it between college and games and such, and how long the post becomes.

I will say that I really, really enjoyed it, at least.

Anarchy Online, free can be awesome

September 3, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

So at a friend’s urging, I decided to try good ol’ Anarchy Online (AO) again. It helps that they put out the basic game along with the first expansion pack completely for free, no subscription costs or anything. The game graphics and such may be kind of old, but the basic gameplay and such seems like it’s quite fun so far. I tried this game a long time ago, playing as an Agent (a sniper that uses stealth, pretty much), and didn’t have much fun. I chalk that up to not liking the Agent even after trying it again recently, and that I had NO idea what I was doing. I also didn’t have a friend I could play with, it really makes things more fun having a friend around.

Anime – Strength is inversely proportional to muscle mass

August 31, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

Today I shall be going over a general rule you see within anime. This rule is generally that the strongest people in the world are always the skinniest possible guys you can meet, sometimes even approaching on anorexic. Therefore, as the title states, actual strength is inversely proportional to the muscle mass of the character, and directly proportional to how close he is to being the main character.

Soul Eater 19, Rocket Powered Mice

August 28, 2008 by dreadpirateryu

Yes yes, I know, Soul Eater 19 is old news, you say. Well, it’s the only thing I have immediately written, and I figured SOMETHING should be put on here other than just a “starting” filler post. So, since I already have this written out and everything, into a post it goes.

This was originally written as an application for Shirukii of Anime Blog ga Arimasu, where it was unfortunately surpassed by writers much more excellent than myself who also applied. Or rather, they might just have had a style of writing that Shirukii liked more than my style. Whatever the case, it wasn’t accepted, and that’s ok.

So, let’s get to the first actual post, shall we?
